We are always looking for volunteers to help out with SwimAbilities classes.

Volunteering for SwimAbilities is done through the City of Edmonton.  Steps on how to volunteer are found on the Volunteer Application page.  Volunteers will need to attend a City of Edmonton New Volunteer Orientation Session and an interview.  Interview times, dates and locations can be found on the Volunteer Application page.

Volunteer Duties:

Volunteers are responsible for interacting with children with special needs and their caregivers during the SwimAbilities swimming lessons.  Volunteers will help support the students and their caregivers learn and practice swimming techniques through the direction and instruction of a certified SwimAbilities and Water Safety Instructor.  Volunteers are not responsible for helping families in the changerooms.

Minimum Requirements include the following:

- Volunteers must commit to a minimum of one SwimAbilities Session

- Volunteers must be at least 14 years of age

- Volunteers must be comfortable in shallow or deep water

- Volunteers must be comfortable interacting with children with special needs and their families

Volunteers are needed to provide support and assistance to the Swim Instructor and participants in the SwimAbilities program!
